Participants will explore the unfavorable complication of root resorption associated with orthodontic tooth movement including the highest risk of root resorption. Attendees will learn of future developments in early detection of malocclusion and guided approach to tooth eruption that minimizes orthodontic intervention and therefore decrease the risk of root resorption associated with it. Lastly, attendees will an overview of varying types of resorptions, including internal, external inflammatory, replacement, pressure and external cervical resorptive diseases. Upon participation, attendees will be equipped to recognize, diagnose, and manage these complex diseases with confidence.
Educational Objectives:
- Review the etiologic factors, pathogenesis, and differential diagnosis of root resorption of all kinds.
- Investigate the updated multidisciplinary treatment approaches for root resorption
- Discuss orthodontic considerations such as types of orthodontic tooth movement with highest risk of root resorption and guided approach to tooth eruption.
- Discuss the multidisciplinary role in identification and management of root resorption.
